As part of our ongoing campaign to oppose the Northern Gateway Pipeline Project, please see below for a letter from the BC Caucus to the Northern Gateway Joint Review Panel.
Thank you for your interest in the proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline.
As many of you know, New Democrats stand shoulder to shoulder with Canadians who are opposed to the Northern Gateway Pipeline. My BC colleagues and I have decided to submit a letter to the Northern Gateway Project Joint Review Panel to express our opposition to the project; but we need your help to protect our beautiful coastline. It’s important that these decision-makers hear from as many different British Columbians as possible.
What you can do to help:
As you may be aware, the Enbridge Northern Gateway project proposes two parallel 1,150-kilometre pipelines across northern BC – crossing hundreds of important fish-bearing rivers and streams. One pipeline would carry an estimated 525,000 barrels a day of crude oil from the Alberta oil-sands to Kitimat, BC; the second pipeline would carry 150,000 barrels a day of condensate in the other direction (a chemical and petroleum mixture used to dilute oil sands crude oil extracted so that it can travel by pipeline) from Kitimat to the Alberta oil-sands.
